The 20 Years of CISAO: 2004 – 2024 Africa, Complexity, and Future A twenty-year dialogue with CISAO and the Piedmont Region.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of CISAO’s establishment, during Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2024, we will organize a meeting with the Piedmont Region, which has always supported the Center and has been a key partner in building knowledge and solutions for resilient territories and agricultural systems in a more sustainable and inclusive world.
A roundtable with experts in the field of development cooperation will encourage new reflections and the design of multisectoral and synergistic interventions capable of addressing the “New Africas.”
Cooperation must become increasingly multisectoral and synergistic, focusing on the importance of directly involving young people, both Italian and African, as the driving force for sustainable and positive change, and as key players in creating new forms of social innovation that respond to local needs.
CISAO and the Piedmont Region have collaborated on long-term sustainable development projects to ensure environmental, economic, and social sustainability by promoting models that respect natural resources, are economically viable, and support social inclusion. Investing in the education and training of young people is crucial, not only in terms of technical knowledge but also entrepreneurial and leadership skills. African start-ups, in fact, are emerging as key players in the continent’s economic transformation.
