A beautiful video that provides a deep
understanding of the PROVIVES project

The PROVIVES project in Senegal is a significant initiative aimed at promoting a green, social, and circular economy in the regions of Dakar, Thiès, Louga, and Saint-Louis. The project involves 160 businesses and 40 start-ups, supported by a network of local and international partners, including CISV, CISAO, LVIA, Re.te Ong, and Mercato Circolare, and is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

One of the main goals of the project is to guide agricultural enterprises towards an ecological transition by integrating agroecology as a systemic approach that combines agricultural, pastoral, sociological, and economic techniques. This approach is considered an effective means to address climate change and improve resilience in crisis areas. FAPAL, a federation of Senegalese farmers, plays a crucial role in this process, supporting agricultural companies through guidance and training in agroecological practices.

The project also places particular emphasis on the circular economy, focusing on waste reduction and extending the life cycle of goods. In a country like Senegal, where waste management poses a significant challenge, the adoption of circular models aims to promote environmental sustainability, social justice, and economic prosperity. Mercato Circolare, one of the project’s partners, has supported the selected enterprises through training and a digital platform that allows monitoring the companies’ progress nationally and internationally. Another key aspect of the project is its focus on a gender approach, considered fundamental for the success of social enterprises. This approach involves not only women but also actively includes men, with the aim of promoting gender equality and human rights. Marta Mosca, an anthropologist and researcher at the University of Turin and a member of Cisao, recently conducted training in Senegal to clarify the implications of gender discrimination and promote policies that enhance each individual’s abilities.

In the coming months, the PROVIVES project will continue to support the involved enterprises, promoting a sustainable and inclusive development model, with the goal of creating a positive impact on local communities.
